BCC 2025 Round Three – Sunday 13 July 2025 – Pandy
Ladies and Gentlemen,
Further to my earlier post, I am pleased to be able to announce the scores for Sunday’s round at Pandy have also been collated. It’s worth saying that the flights were entered on the XC League and then the BCC website in a very timely fashion; the delay in posting the scores is entirely due to having some complications to resolve from the Saturday (with me wanting to post the scores in order!).
A slightly smaller field (58 pilots from 12 teams) reassembled at the Glanusk campsite and with a continuation of the blue skies and heat from the previous day, iced coffees and shade were in high demand; fortunately both were available thanks to a clever positioning of Pippa’s coffee cart which did a roaring trade once again. An excellent brief from Simon Sykes of UKAF set the stage for another day of epic flying.
With a full write up of the flying in train from other BCC pilots, I can once again just focus on the scores and PD Prize summary and leave the tales of daring do, climbs to 7,000 feet and flights to the coast to the expert wordsmiths.
The stats do hint at a very good day though, with 49 of the 58 pilots posting scores and another nine Pilot Development prizes being earned, which included another precious First Ever XC of 22km for Rob Mitchell of Avon. The top scoring flight of the day goes to Will Rice from Condors who posted an impressive Personal Best of 102.8km, one of three flights in excess of 100km.
Note. If any pilot has inadvertently not claimed a PD prize, or claimed the wrong PD prize (that does happen), please let me know and I can make amendments as required.
And so on to the scores for the round. Aided by Will’s top scoring PB flight and Neil Russell’s brilliant104.30km, Condors Red secured the 1,000 points. Taking the second and third spots were SE Wales Red and SE Wales Blue on 879 and 699 points respectively. An honourable mention must go to Dan Starsmore who led the charge for Crickhowell Paragliding with his 106.9km which secured fourth place and 646 points.
Now for the leaderboard. After three rounds, SE Wales Red remain in top spot with 2,879 points, with Crickhowell Paragliding very much remaining in contention in second place on 2,482 points. The other teams in the top six (Condors Red, North Devon Red, SW Wales (from only two scores) and UKAF South) are not that far behind. So, we are beautifully set for the remainder of the season
